What is AI Search Optimization (AISO), and why it matters more every quarter

Traditional SEO optimizes for a ranking algorithm that returns ten blue links. AI Search Optimization optimizes for a language model that reads your page, decides whether it's trustworthy and specific enough to cite, and then compresses it into a sentence or two inside its own answer.

The overlap with good technical SEO is real: clean semantic HTML, fast load times, and clear information architecture help both. But AI answer engines weight a few things more heavily than a typical Google ranking algorithm does: explicit factual clarity, self-contained answers near the top of a page, and structured data that removes ambiguity about what a page is actually about.

In practice, that means writing a concise, quotable summary near the top of every important page, answering the obvious follow-up questions explicitly rather than implying them, and using schema markup so AI crawlers don't have to guess at your page's structure.

It also means avoiding keyword stuffing more strictly than ever. AI systems are good at detecting low-substance content designed purely for ranking, and citing it undermines their own credibility, so they tend to avoid it.
